Community Information

Hello – We now enter the last on campus learning week leading to the end of the school year on Thursday, June 10 at 11:30 am.

During this school year we have had face to face on campus and online programs operating and will successfully finish the school year as planned.

With Government approvals and the hope that an effective vaccine program will eventually be available in Venezuela, we aim to return to a face to face on campus learning in August and September 2021.

Most of the ECA community has indicated that they aim to be vaccinated by August. If this is the case it will reduce the risk of having serious illness but will not completely eliminate future spread of infections. As a result, and in order to protect the health and safety of the ECA community, we will have to continue with ECA’s biosecurity protocols, mask use and social distancing during the first semester of the new academic year. Please be sure to read new protocols directed to vaccinated individuals

Some parents have been asking for advice related to vaccinations for students. In order to help you make informed decisions, for your children, we have arranged for a vaccine Zoom informational webinar, with Dr. Lila Vega, to be held on Tuesday, June 8 at 9:30 am. Here is the webinar link.

During June and July, we shall be carefully monitoring both COVID and vaccine developments and the government’s flexible/radical week plans for Caracas. On August 3 I will be sending you specific information related to plans for the start of the new academic year beginning on Monday, August 16

We have two (2) faculty members leaving ECA this June. This is the lowest number of overseas and local faculty members leaving ECA for the past ten (10) years. We have contracted one (1) new overseas teacher and one (1) local teacher and will send you further information, about teachers and class lists, in August. On your behalf, I thank the following exiting faculty for their excellent work and interaction with ECA students, and wish them success:

  • Clementina Vera Perez – Elementary Guidance Counsellor
  • Erik Lamb – Secondary Humanities teacher

I wish departing community members well with their new learning destinations. On behalf of the ECA Board of Directors and ECA Faculty and staff, I thank ECA parents, faculty and staff for their sustained work and support during this academic year.

Please stay safe, healthy and well, so that we can safely resume learning together again in August 2021.

Each and every ECA community member must assume the responsibility to look out for the health of others in the community.
